When producing wood plastic products, in order to improve the quality of the products, we are equipped with a co-extrusion system, which can cover the surface of the wood plastic products with a high-quality co-extrusion layer with a thickness of 0.5-1.0mm.
Co-extrusion has the following effects on wood plastic products:
Improve appearance
Coextrusion can form a uniform and smooth outer layer on the surface of wood plastic products. For example, by coextruding a layer of material with good gloss, the wood plastic products can be made more beautiful, improve the visual texture of the product, and meet some application scenarios with high requirements for appearance, such as interior decorative panels.
Enhance wear resistance
The outer layer material of coextrusion can choose polymers with good wear resistance. For products such as wood plastic flooring, the coextrusion layer can effectively resist the friction and wear caused by daily walking, furniture movement, etc., and extend the service life of the product.
Improve weather resistance
The coextrusion layer can use materials with excellent weather resistance, such as some special plastics. This layer of co-extruded material can protect the wood fiber and plastic matrix inside the WPC product from external environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, rain, temperature changes, etc., and reduce the occurrence of fading, deformation and other problems.
Increase strength and rigidity
During the co-extrusion process of WPC products, reinforcing fibers or high-strength polymers can be added to the co-extruded layer. This helps to improve the overall strength and rigidity of the WPC product, making the product less likely to deform or damage when subjected to a large load. For example, in WPC building formwork, the co-extruded reinforcement layer can improve the bearing capacity of the formwork and ensure stability during concrete pouring.
Improve dimensional stability
The material of the co-extruded layer can interact with the WPC matrix to reduce dimensional changes caused by factors such as hygroscopic expansion of wood fibers and shrinkage of plastics. For some WPC products with high dimensional accuracy requirements, such as WPC door and window profiles, co-extrusion can ensure the dimensional stability of the product under different environmental conditions.
Flame retardant properties
Flame retardants can be added to the co-extruded layer or materials with flame retardant properties can be used. For some wood-plastic products used in public places or places with high fire protection requirements, such as decorative materials in shopping malls, theaters and other places, the co-extruded flame retardant layer can improve the fire resistance of the product and reduce the risk of fire.
Antibacterial properties
By co-extruding materials containing antibacterial ingredients, wood-plastic products can have antibacterial functions. For wood-plastic products used in environments with strict hygiene requirements such as medical and health facilities and food processing workshops, the co-extruded antibacterial layer can inhibit the growth and reproduction of microorganisms such as bacteria and mold.
