Plastic machinery industry shredder and crusher difference

2024-09-11

In the plastic machinery industry, there are the following differences between shredders and crushers:

Working principle

1. Shredder:

The principle of cutting and tearing is adopted. Through the relative rotation of two or more axes with sharp knives, the plastic material is strongly pulled and cut, just like cutting paper with scissors, and the plastic is gradually shredded into larger chunks or strips.

The shape and arrangement of the tool is specially designed to effectively grasp the plastic material and break it. For example, the tool may be hooked or spirally shaped, increasing the contact area with the material and the tearing force.

2. Crusher:

The main use of extrusion, impact, grinding and other ways to break plastics. Common crushers are jaw crushers and hammer crushers.

The jaw crusher extrudes and breaks plastics through the reciprocating motion of the moving jaw plate and the static jaw plate. The hammer crusher uses a high-speed rotating hammer head to impact the plastic.

Applicable material

1. Shredder:

It is suitable for processing plastics of various shapes and sizes, including large plastic sheets, plastic containers, plastic pipes, etc. For some plastic waste items with strong toughness and irregular shape, the shredder can be handled well.

For example, for large waste plastic buckets, plastic furniture, etc., the shredder can quickly shred it into smaller sizes, which is convenient for subsequent processing and recycling.

2. Crusher:

It is more suitable for handling relatively small size and high hardness plastic particles or block materials. For some plastics after initial crushing, the crusher can further break it to a finer particle size.

For example, for plastic bottle pieces that have been coarse broken, the crusher can break them into smaller particles to meet specific production process requirements.

Crushing size

1. Shredder:

The particle size of the broken plastic is relatively large, generally between a few centimeters and tens of centimeters.

The shredder mainly carries out the preliminary crushing treatment of the plastic, and provides the larger size of the plastic fragments for the subsequent processing.

2. Crusher:

The plastic can be broken to a smaller particle size, usually between a few millimeters and a few centimeters.

The crusher can adjust the particle size after crushing according to different production needs, and produce plastic particles that meet specific requirements.

Productive capacity

1. Shredder:

The production capacity is relatively small, generally ranging from tens of kilograms to several tons per hour. This is because the shredder's crushing method is relatively slow, and it takes a certain amount of time to tear and cut the plastic.

However, for some large plastic waste items, the shredder can carry out continuous operation and gradually break it into smaller sizes.

2. Crusher:

The production capacity is large, especially some large crushers, which can handle several tons or even dozens of tons of plastic materials per hour.

The crusher usually uses high-speed rotating parts to break plastics, and the processing speed is fast, which can meet the needs of large-scale production.

Equipment structure

1. Shredder:

The structure is relatively simple, mainly composed of motor, reducer, tool, box and so on. The cutting tool is the key component of the shredder, and its quality and performance directly affect the crushing effect of the equipment.

The box of the shredder is generally made of strong steel to withstand the impact of the plastic material during the crushing process.

2. Crusher:

The structure is more complex, and the structure of different types of crushers is quite different. For example, the jaw crusher consists of a frame, a moving jaw, a static jaw, an eccentric shaft, a bracket, etc.; The hammer crusher is composed of rotor, hammer head, sieve plate, box and other parts.

The key parts of the crusher include the crushing chamber, the crushing parts and the transmission device, etc. These parts need to have high strength and wear resistance to ensure the long-term stable operation of the equipment.

In the plastic machinery industry, there is a clear difference between shredders and crushers. The shredder works on the principle of cutting and tearing, which is suitable for large irregular plastics with large crushing size, small production capacity and simple structure. Crusher using extrusion and other methods, suitable for small size of hard plastics, small particle size, large production capacity and complex structure. Both have their own advantages in plastic treatment and meet different needs.
