There are mainly the following common types of twin-screw granulator:
1. Parallel twin screw granulator
This is a more widely used type. The two screws are parallel and rotate in the same direction, which has a strong conveying and mixing capacity. Suitable for polymer material modification, blending and color masterbatch production. For example, in the preparation of plastic alloys, a uniform mixing effect can be achieved.
2. Parallel double screw granulator
Its two screws are parallel but rotate in opposite directions. With large shear force and self-cleaning properties, it is often used for plasticizing and extrusion molding of materials. For example, it performs well in the production of PVC products.
3. Conical twin screw granulator
The screw is conical in distribution, usually in the extrusion process can produce a higher pressure, suitable for the production of products requiring higher extrusion pressure, such as PVC pipes, profiles, etc.
4. Tight mesh type twin screw granulator
The gap between the screw slots is small, the degree of engagement is high, and it can provide a strong shearing and mixing effect, which is suitable for some processes that require strict dispersion mixing.
5. Non-engaging twin screw granulator
There is a large gap between the screw groove, and the residence time of the material is relatively short, which is suitable for the process of not requiring high shear action, but paying more attention to transportation and simple mixing.
Different kinds of twin-screw granulators have their own characteristics in structure, performance and scope of application.
